Having previously played for Antalyaspor in the Turkish League in 2023, Jasim made a quick return to Iraq to join Al Kahrabaa SC before being loaned out to Air Force Club but his phenomenal displays have earned him the opportunity to feature in the Italian Serie A.
Jasim was prolific with Air Force Club, netting four in the AFC Champions League™ ۲۰۲۳/۲۴, then won the Top Goalscorer award at the AFC U23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024™ before scoring Iraq’s winner in their Paris Olympics 2024 match against Ukraine on Wednesday.
Como have undergone tremendous transformation in recent years, culminating in them earning promotion to Serie A after they finished second in Serie B last season.
Now with former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas at the helm as head coach, the 20-year-old will not have a better mentor to work with to hone his skills and game further.
“We believe Jasim has the potential to develop quickly here with us in Como,” said Fabregas.
“He has already made a big impression on the national team and Asian Champions League and we hope to see this translates to making an impact in Italy as soon as possible in the upcoming season.”
Meanwhile, Al Ittihad announced the signing of midfielder Moussa Diaby from English Premier League club Aston Villa, where he spent one season returning with six goals in 38 appearances.
The 25-year-old French international, known for his blistering pace and creative flair, has committed to a five-year deal with the Saudi Arabian giants, marking a significant acquisition for the team ahead of the upcoming season.
“I’m thrilled to join Al Ittihad and be part of a project that aims to build a strong team reflecting the club’s rich history and values. I look forward to collaborating with my new teammates to achieve victories and bring joy to our dedicated fans,” said Diaby.
